17th-19th February, 2006 saw an historic global event take place in Bangalore where millions of people gathered at the Jakkur Airfield in Bangalore to celebrate the silver jubilee of the Art of Living Foundation and the 50th birthday of our founder
H.H. Poojya Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji.
The Art of Living Silver Jubilee Celebrations is a Celebration of Poojya Gurudev's contribution to the world. It is also a Celebration of Life.
For centuries India has been known for its Spiritual strength and its commitment to the upliftment of the Human Values, and now with Gurudev's blessings there is a new vigor and enthusiasm in people all over the world, specially in the youth to bring about a change in society through service. Watching the crowds, crossing one million every day for 3 days, everyone had one thought ringing in the mind: that I have never seen such brilliance and vibrance in all the faces that I see. Gurudev, the living example of Service with a Smile, was reflecting
in all the bright faces of the joyous audience.
Words cannot do justice to what HE is and Hiscontribution to the world. One thing that really touches the heart is the depth and reach of Gurudev's work in rural India. As each moment and each day passes, Gurudev's volunteer's and teachers are transforming the lives of millions of people living in the villages and they are ready for action whether it is Tsunami, Mumbai floods or earthquake in Kashmir.
Truly Gurudev has accomplished the ancient goal of one world family, Vasudaiva Kutumbakam. To sum up Gurudev's work is just not possible, for the work, like the Master, is beyond definition. He has inspired millions across the globe, and it is His presence more than anything that inspires and elevates and awakens love in everyone. We consider ourselves blessed to be here with Him, to be a part of this grand celebration of human values. Gurudev's 50th birthday is on 13 May this year. 2006 is a remarkable year for us all, bringing together the Silver and Golden jubilee, and with Gurudev's love and blessings, let us fold hands and wish the whole of humanity an era of love and peace.
